Introduction

To maximize the use of this study guide you should have a T1-83 or equivalent graphing calculator and a foundation base skill level relating to both descriptive and inferential AP statistics.

This study guide is not intended to be a holistic overview of AP Stats but rather an in depth overview of free response questions using language based tools and techniques to help you identify and calculate each concept and question type.

In addition, this study guide will also expose you to the various ways questions relating to similar question stems are posed and thus examples of each will be provided and analyzed to assist you in understanding the material.  You will be walked through the various ways you can approach each question using either the calculator functions, formulas, or intuitive methods.

The author has prepared this manual using lessons developed and presented to AP statistics candidates at the high school level desiring to master the AP Stats examination prior to college entry.

Remember that on the AP Stats exam, with respect to inferential statistics you will have questions relating to only one variable or two variable statistics.  The bulk of the calculations you will use throughout the exam will involve testing means and proportions.  The comparison of variability and the calculation of variability and correlation are also tested using the Chi-square and correlation coefficient.

Knowing your calculator functions is crucial to building your confidence and speed when answering inferential questions on the AP exam.
This study guide begins with confidence intervals, margin of error, testing proportions, testing means, correlation coefficient, and chi-square.
